Abstract


Everybody is exposed to violence and crime in some way, at some time. Trauma is a state of emotional discomfort resulting from memories of an actual or perceived threat of injury or death. It alters your basic assumptions of life and you feel disillusioned. It is similar to a painting falling off the wall and being shattered – it is all gone. All our assumptions are challenged - the theory that helped us to make sense of our world.
