Abstract
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are one of the most frequently used class of medicines worldwide. They are effective anti-pyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents. NSAIDs are used for both acute conditions such as headache, menstrual pain, fever, toothache and
muscular aches and pains and chronically for the management of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Aspirin is also used chronically as an anti-thrombotic agent for cardiovascular protection in patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease.
